SHOULD I SEE A SINUS SPECIALIST?

Most sinus symptoms can be managed with medical treatment, primarily through prescribed and over-the-counter (OTC) medications. But for patients who do not get adequate relief with treatment, Atkins Expert Sinus Care can help. Many patients who fail to get relief through more conservative treatment protocols have underlying issues that are causing their sinus problems.

If you are experiencing frequent sinus infections, have symptoms that last weeks on end, or feel that you are taking too many antibiotics without improvement, then you should come see us. We will be glad to give you our opinion and help you get to the cause of your sinus problems.

Common symptoms of chronic sinusitis include:

  • Discolored nasal drainage (yellow, green)

  • Two or more sinus infections a year that last 10 days or more

  • Fatigue

  • Chronic inflammation of the nasal passages

  • Facial or head fullness

  • Facial or head pressure

  • Nasal obstruction or blocked sinus passages

  • Decrease in ability smell

  • Chronic bad breath (that does not have a dental origin)

Sometimes the diagnosis of sinusitis can be overlooked or delayed because symptoms of a chronic sinus infection can mimic those of many other health problems.

Some of these conditions include:

  • Migraines

  • Common Colds

  • Silent Reflux (Laryngophayngeal Reflux)

  • Toothache

  • Cedar Fever

  • Allergy Flare-up

  • Allergic Rhinitis

  • Sleep Apnea

When considering which doctor is best for you, experience matters. Dr. Atkins has performed more balloon sinus surgeries than any other physician in our area. He's also probably helped just as many without performing surgery.  If you are interested in getting to the cause of your sinus problem and learing about your options come see us.
